The Rainbow of Us.

The Rainbow of Us.

Emilia Grimes

Year 6, Abbotsleigh

From the crimson wave of the harsh rage to the calm, pink and gold, floating bubble of joy, emotion is what shapes our world. Without it we'd have nothing. All of us. No inventions, buildings, comfort, friends, life. We would stay in the dust, just being there. We were made to feel, have emotion, and every single feeling relies on one another.

One of the great examples of this is those healthy, happy, wonderful feelings of the world. Love. Joy. They are important. Vital. They easily show that without love you wouldn't sympathise, care for anything, make friends, you wouldn't even be here. To not be born. And if you were, what happened to your loving parents and friends? Without love, we, as an entire world, would not be what we are today. Not without the soft pink love. Not without it. And what about Joy? We want to be happy. We want and need to be joyful to go through years, for when the bubble of joy appears, there is such a feeling, you can't explain it. Just joy. The golden bubble of shimmering happiness. Love. The pulsing move at the heart.

But now, we move onto the lesser passions. Sadness and frustration. The horrible ones. The ones that nobody wants to feel. And yet they are the ones that build us up and support our social tower. It would crumble without them. The demolish would start with the top, with the trial and error new medicine developments. Without frustration, you wouldn't change your ideas. For example, without frustration, if you can't get through a wall by walking into it, you would keep going and walking into it, never getting frustrated that it isn't working. That's what would happen with the nanotechnology that they are working on now. Scientists would keep on trying to use the same strategy and the world would stay the same. After the top crumbles, we would now rely on our sadness to keep it staying the same way. Sadness is very important in our life. It is mirrored against love. If we own something, and love it, when it is gone you will be sad. If you're not sad, you can't fully love something. Not even people. Sadness shows that we care. Sadness and love. Frustration and creativity. All emotions mirror another.

The roaring red tsunami of anger will burst through from time to time. But never? No. We need anger. We need it to shape and whip up our falling tower. Take equality. If we don't feel angry enough to know that discrimination is wrong and unfair, we may have never come together for equal rights. Anger backs onto forgiveness. Without anger, you can't forgive. Vice versa, without forgiveness, our world is corrupted with dispute and the anger left will tip the delicate scales of our indispensable tower.

Joy, sadness, frustration and forgiveness, we all need these most crucial feelings. They matter. It matters. To me. To us. To the world. It matters to who we are. They make us unique. Different. Us.

Emotion. The colours that shape our world.
