The exhibition Balnhdhurr – A Lasting Impression celebrates 20 years of fine art printmaking in the remote community of Yirrkala in North East Arnhem Land. This joyous exhibition maps the evolution of the Yirrkala Print Space and its activities from the first black and white linocuts produced to the technically diverse and innovative outcomes of major community projects.
Join visiting Yolngu artists Ruby Alderton, Bitharr Maymuru and Whitney Marika along with Dr Denise Salvestro for an engaging and informative talk in the exhibition that explores the rich cultural and artistic underpinnings of the works on display.
Following the talk there is an opportunity to participate in a printmaking workshop with the artists to create your own visual response to the exhibition and learn some Yolngu Matha on the way.
Bookings essential as places are limited. Refreshments will be served.
