Launch of 'Freda Whitlam: A Biography of Freda Whitlam'
The Whitlam Institute hosted the launch of the first biography of Ms Freda Whitlam AM at UWS Parramatta on Monday 16 March 2009. Close friends, family and dignitaries joined us to celebrate the achievements of one of Western Sydney's biggest advocates, Freda Whitlam.
This record of Freda's life and achievements, written by author Noelene Martin, is an extremely important document which will strengthen the collection of works concerning the Whitlam family. Staff at the Whitlam Institute were delighted to host the launch for the illuminating and significant biography which celebrates the life and work of Freda Whitlam.
Freda Whitlam was formerly Principal of the Presbyterian Ladies College Croydon, Moderator of the NSW Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia, and became a Member of the Order of Australia for service to education and the community in 1987. Freda was recognised by the University of Western Sydney in 1999 when she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate.
Order forms for the book are available to download on our website.
