New Executive Director for the Whitlam Institute
Jacqueline has dedicated her career to the pursuit of social justice, and equal access to opportunity and quality of life. Prior to joining The Whitlam Institute, Jacqueline was the Director of the European Network on Debt and Development, Europe's leading peak body of some 50 non-governmental organisations (NGO's) committed to fair and just international debt and poverty reduction policies.
Jacqueline has also held senior executive positions in London and Canberra with the World Development Movement and CARE Australia respectively.
Jacqueline's many non-executive roles have included the Board of the YWCA U.K.; a member of the Board (including 2 years as Chair) of TREEAID, a sustainable development and livelihoods charity; and President of the International Neurofybromatosis Research Fund. Jacqueline is a founding member of the International Centre for Social Economic and Cultural Rights.
Jacqueline has a Master of Arts in International Studies and Diplomacy (distinction) from the University of London, and has a particular interest in the role and impact of the private sector in shaping society and contributing to communities. This has lead to delivering a series of annual guest lectures on Human Rights and international trade & investment, for visiting Chinese Lawyers and Judges to the European Commission. Jacqueline has been invited to speak and write on various aspects of economic and social justice, in forums as diverse as United Nations conferences in Kenya, to Arts festivals in Poland. Jacqueline was published in 2002 on the topic of 'The role of economic policy in post conflict societies' in the book Nationbuilding in East Timor.
In addition, Jacqueline has undertaken a range of consultancies for European governments and the World Bank on Public Private Partnerships in the provision of essential services for disadvantaged communities.
