Susie Carleton joins Whitlam Institute Board
The Whitlam Institute is pleased to announce that Ms Susie Carleton has joined the Board of the Whitlam Institute. Susie is an hotelier of long standing, having owned and operated some of the most celebrated watering holes in both Canberra and Sydney over three decades.
Her reputation as a noted businesswoman is matched by her long commitment to developing Australian theatre and arts, along with her continuing efforts on behalf of indigenous communities, particularly in advancing opportunities for children.
She founded the Redfern Foundation Ltd, which is helping Sydney's Aboriginal community to strengthen itself through development projects and family support services.
In 1988 she joined the foundation board of film and marketing experts for Film Australia Pty Ltd which had recently gone from a failing public film body to a rejuvenated organisation producing documentaries, films and educational material on national concerns.
In 2003 she concluded her term on the Board of the Griffin at the Stables Theatre Company which continues its 30 year old policy of performing only new and cutting edge Australian plays. Susie is now a member of the Griffin Advisory Council.
Welcome Susie.
